Christina Hip-Flores

Christina Hip-Flores, MPP, JCD, JD is a distinguished canonist, civil attorney, and educator. She holds a BA in Public and International Affairs from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School (1999), a Master’s in Public Policy (MPP) from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government (2004), a Licentiate in Canon Law (JCL) from The Catholic University of America (2010), a Doctorate in Canon Law (JCD) from the University of Navarra (2015), and a Juris Doctor (JD) from The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law (2021).

Bilingual in English and Spanish, Dr. Hip-Flores serves as an ecclesiastical judge, Defender of the Bond, Promoter of Justice, and canonical consultant across multiple dioceses in the United States and Cuba. She practices in areas such as marriage nullity causes, penal matters, and consecrated life. Each year, she dedicates several months to pro-bono service as Tribunal Director for the Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Tribunal in Santiago de Cuba, her home archdiocese.

In academia, Dr. Hip-Flores teaches canon law at Catholic International University, specializing in marriage law, temporal goods, and the People of God. She is a frequent international speaker on topics including the marriage nullity process, consecrated life (including the ordo virginum and ordo viduarum), associations of the faithful, and Catholic Social Doctrine. Her doctoral dissertation, “Ordo Viduarum: Consecrated Widows in Canon Law” has been published as scholarly articles in multiple academic journals.

In the civil sphere, Dr. Hip-Flores is admitted to the bars of New Jersey and the District of Columbia. She has practiced federal immigration law, including defensive asylum and humanitarian relief, and previously provided legal immigration services for Catholic Charities
