2026 Good Counselor fellow

Fritz Shadley

Fritz Shadley is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and currently works as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio. Fritz graduated from Notre Dame with a B.A. in History in 2008, spent the year after graduation teaching English in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, and then graduated from Notre Dame Law School in 2012. After law school, Fritz worked for a law firm in Chicago called Winston & Strawn, and then clerked in the Northern District of Illinois for Judge John Robert Blakey. After clerking in Chicago, Fritz joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida (Miami), and later returned home to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio.

As an Assistant United States Attorney, Fritz prosecutes cases involving domestic and international organized crime, narcotics trafficking, violent crime, and dark web criminal networks. He currently serves as the district’s Lead Homeland Security Task Force Attorney. Fritz is not nearly as serious as his “serious flag picture” makes him look, and – for the sake of full disclosure – his hairline has receded significantly since that picture was taken.

Outside of the office, Fritz serves as an instructor with Notre Dame Law School’s intensive trial advocacy program, and plays more pick-up basketball than his aging knees appreciate.
